Bring your blanket or chair and join us for hot dogs approximately 1 hour before dusk.  Lemonade and gourmet popcorn are also available - everything is free.

Community Garden

Orla and the crew planted toward the end of May and the garden is growing beautifully.  Everyone is welcome to pick a few vegetables - and weeds - in the unfenced garden. 

The fenced garden is a private space for individuals.  This space is available so contact Orla in the spring at Dayton First Baptist to reserve your row next year (503) 864-2474.

Thank you to everyone who worked up the soil, planted the veggies and are keeping the weeds pulled - you ROCK!

Food Bank updates

Wow time has flown but our food bank has been extremely busy.  We had a great community garden, a fantastic turn out for the Thanksgiving food boxes and once again our Christmas Angel, Willamina and Dayton FFA and Stone Wolf Winery provided 175 Christmas food boxes.

As we went through the Spring of 2012 our numbers have continued to increase.  We have been so fortunate for the funds that we received that our shelves are full and ready for each food bank.

Thank you to everyone, individuals, Boy Scouts, Stone Wolf, FFA, MeCHA, postal workers, Dayton Home Club and churches who have helped us throughout the year.

FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIES

It's back - every night in August. Free movies, popcorn, hot dogs and lemonade. Movie starts at dark - roast your own hot dogs about 7:00 pm. We have a new playground too. Bring your own blanket or chair

COMMUNITY GARDEN - LET'S GET PLANTING

It's about that time, the garden has been tilled and the planting will begin soon. Contact Orla (503) 857-2126 ocrre@comcast.net if you would liketo help or have your own row. There are two areas in the garden - one for anyone and a separate section for individuals private garden.

2011 Budget

As we go into 2011 we are very fortunate to be in the black - for now. Our budget is approximately $500+ per month. Our director Deb Nissen is terrific at finding the "deals". We are serving 45-60 families each month.
We could use additional monetary donations as well as items that we cannot always purchase from the YCAP Food Bank. Canned meat - chicken, etc., rice, pasta meals, baking mix, sugar, flour, soup, tomato sauce/paste, chili, canned fruit, fruit juice, cold cereal, condiments - for lunch sandwiches, toilet paper, diapers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and personal toiletry items are some things we could use.

Yeah - Dayton City Council has given us $600

A big thank you to the Dayton City Council. They have given $600 to our Dayton Community Food Bank. This will take care of at least one month of food as we go into the fall
